Frequently Asked Questions - about how to invest

Can I invest on-line?     Cofunds and Fidelity FundsNetwork now accept applications on the internet using your debit or switch card. Please make sure that you invest through our website to make sure you benefit from the best discounts on the web. Your investments will automatically be registered with Allenbridgecare and will appear on your on-line valuation as soon as your investment has been confirmed by either Cofunds or Fidelity FundsNetwork.

Can I invest over the phone?     Only for so-called "direct" investments with a fund manager (not a fund supermarket) such as Unit Trusts and OEICS outside of an ISA can we take instructions over the phone. Cofunds and Fidelity FundsNetwork require you to either apply on-line or with an application form.

I prefer to invest using application forms     If you prefer to use an application form you can either download one from our website or request one from us.

When you use an application form please make sure to use the full and correct name of the funds you want, also indicating whether you want income or accumulation units.

Can I use last year's application form     Normally last year's application form will not be accepted, unless it is a so-called "multi-year" form, clearing stating an investment option for 2003/2004.

Can I use a non-ISA application form for an ISA?     Because of the unique tax status associated with ISAs you have to apply for an ISA with a specific ISA application form. If, for any reason, you received the wrong form, please contact us immediately and we will forward to correct form to you. Alternatively you may download the correct application form from our website.

Can I take out an ISA with my partner?     Because of the taxation rules, an ISA can only be taken out by one person.

Can someone else pay for my ISA?     Just as an ISA can only belong to one person, it also can only be paid for by the very same person who takes it out. Please note that your payment has to come out of your personal bank account and not your company bank account.

Who do I make my payment to?     Please make your payment to the plan manager whose application form you are using, e.g. Cofunds Ltd, Fidelity FundsNetwork Ltd. Because we do not hold your money at any time you cannot make any cheques payable to us.

I bank with a Building Society; is there anything I should look out for?     If you are drawing a cheque from your building society account, there must be sufficient evidence on the face of the cheque that the funds are from the personal account of the person who will own the ISA. If there are special requirements on the application form please ensure that they are complied with.

How do I get my application form to you?     You can post the application form to us in the Business Reply envelope you received when you requested the form from us.

Please note that if you need to post your application form close to a deadline that you contact us first to make sure that your application form will reach us on time as sometimes there may be alternative ways to process your application form.

What will you do with my application form?     As soon as we receive your application form we will make sure it completed. The very same day we receive your application form we will then forward your application form and cheque to the plan manager. We will also instruct the plan manager to give you the extra units earned by your discount. Finally will enter your fund to our Allenbridgecare service.

Why did you return my application form to me?     Sometimes you may, inadvertently, have made an error submitting your application form. These are the main points to look out for:
bullet The correct application form
bullet Full name and address
bullet National Insurance Number
bullet Date of birth
bullet Correct names of the funds and the type of units
bullet Amount you wish to invest in each fund
bullet Your signature on the declaration
bullet Your cheque made out to the plan manager
bullet Requirements regarding building society cheques

For ease of contacting you, please submit a contact telephone number so that we may contact you in case we may be able to solve any problems over the phone rather than returning your application form by post.
