Expert witness work in litigation Allenbridge Group has a well-developed reputation for providing independent analysis of investment portfolios and fund managers’ performance. On behalf of private clients and charities, we review existing portfolios, advise clients on the appropriate long term investment strategy and asset allocation, assist them in the manager selection process and review performance going forward. Our experience covers segregated portfolios, conventional funds and hedge funds. Our reputation rests upon our research base, our independence from any product provider and our team of experienced professionals with deep knowledge of the investment management industry, gained as practitioners as well as consultants, which gives us a good understanding of the internal decision-making processes of fund management firms. One consequence of this special perspective on the industry has been our engagement by law firms to provide expert witness work on behalf of clients dissatisfied with the stewardship of their portfolios. Recent cases include a charity wishing to sue its fund managers and beneficiaries wishing to sue their trustees. We would normally advise seeking redress through the internal compliance function of a fund manager rather than resorting to litigation but if that is not possible, we help establish the strength of the client’s case and then build up a suitable expert witness statement. In another case we advised on a portfolio valuation containing Venture Capital Trusts and unquoted Enterprise Investment Scheme companies in a divorce settlement. Our fees for this service are based upon an hourly charge out rate of £300 per hour where our senior professionals are concerned, falling to £200 per hour for more junior staff. |
